Overview: Play ball! is the theme of the opening scene and playing ball is a way of doing business that sends several competitors to jail. This based-on-fact story begins in a corporate box at a baseball game where some friendly competitors meet regularly to discuss what they call the rotation for upcoming bids. They settle a problem caused by one of the group who inadvertently won a bid when it wasn't his turn at bat. Later, in anxious phone calls, they worry about being apprehended. Meanwhile, a team of federal attorneys is uncovering their scheme through informers and an intensive investigation. Paralleling the story of these corporate ball players, the government lawyers explain five forms of bid rigging, including simple price fixing tell the stories of other conspiracies and how they were prosecuted puncture some misconceptions about conspiracy laws and outline the fines and jail terms imposed by Sentencing Guidelines. They describe antitrust law enforcement in the European Union and Asia. Finally, the chain of illegal acts is shown to be a losing game for the conspirators and for their companies.
